Mother of the Bride Shoes I: Lauren by Ralph Lauren Tyra

Mothers, if you’re looking for something more traditional and simple, the Ralph Lauren Tyra is just the shoe for you. The straps and design are simple and classy. Not too much heel, but just enough to give you some height to make anyone’s legs look long and lean. The soft gold tone of the Tyra will match just about any outfit whether it be a dress, pantsuit or skirt/top combo. I will suggest however, you try not to go “matchy-matchy” with this and pair it with a gold toned dress or match it with black.

Bridal Shoes IV: Nina Electra

On the flip side from the Kate Spade Mattie I introduced to you before, the Nina Electra is a perfect bride’s shoe for those of you looking for height (cough..like myself). Plus, as Nina’s are known for..you’ll get comfort AND height with the Electra. This pump for the bride is demure with the soft bow detail and overlapping pleats that offset the thin ankle strap. The Electra will go perfectly with a long or short wedding gown. Oh and BTW, did you see the metallic gold underlining of the shoe, I love that detail – makes it slightly more exciting.

Bridal Shoes III: Kate Spade Mattie

For those of you are perhaps a bit tall…or have a groom who’s a tad vertically challenged, the Kate Spade Mattie is a perfect fit. You still get to wear heels without towering over the groom without having to resort to a flat. With the Mattie you’ll feel lovely and demure with the straps and knotted bow.

Bridal Shoes II: Dyeables Erica Pump

The pleats and disconnected cross front of Dyeables Erica Pump are both interesting and flattering. Also, I’m liking the Erica because a) if you don’t want to actually dye these shoes, you don’t need to since they are already white and nicely finished and..b) after the wedding you can dye them to any color you’d want that will match more of your wardrobe. I actually want to get these just so I can dye them a deep orange to play up some outfits I have in my closet right now. It’s a win-win Brides, perfect shoe for your wedding..and after!

Mother of the Bride Shoes: Rewind
Naturalizer Prissy Sandal: Comfort and elegance. Perfect for those formal weddings with the color, heel, and straps.
Nine West Jojus Pumps: for the trendsetting mother and the less than traditional wedding.
Alfani Desire Thong: great of the destination weddings on the beach with linen Mother of the Bride outfits. And no one can argue that these thongs will be super comfortable!
Cole Haan Wanda Air Sling: for slightly preppy wedding. A great pump for weddings and spring and summer dresses
More than anything, shoes for the Mother of the Bride must be comfortable…and stylish. You are an important part of the Bridal Party and will definitely look the part if you pick the right shoes to go with your outfit. Embellished flats are are wonderful and dressy. Patterns are great and can complement a single tone outfit. Pumps (like the Cole Haans above) are wonderful for height and class. And strappy sandals with anywhere from a kitten to slightly higher heel bring elegance and tradition to are dressy enough to look fabulous with the satin and brocade outfits I’ve notice Mothers of the Bride tend to lean towards for evening weddings. So..whatever type of ensemble you are planning…all you Mothers can take the previous Mother of the Bride posts as a guide to style and comfort.

Bridal Shoes – Rewind
Nona Kimi Genevieve
These are great shoes for any Bride and any type of gown. The Nona is the perfect traditional shoe that will complement a structured gown made of a stiffer satin type of material and look great with any body type. The Kimi is great to play up a more simple gown and give the entire look a hip and trendy updated look. The staight lines of the t-strap also help it to go great with the flowy and the structured gown as well. And lastly the Genevieve is a great delicate looking shoe to soften the look of any dress and bride that is elegant and detailed enough without a ton of embellishment to go beautifully with just about anything and anyone.
Simple hints: When choosing a shoe to go with your wedding gown, think of the the style, material, and length of your gown (so how much of the shoe will actually show up in the pictures). If it is a simple gown then mix things up with detailed and accented shoe. If it’s a gown that is made of a brocade or stiff satin with a lot of embellishment, try to go with something more simple. And if the gown is very delicate and erethreal then it’s a good idea to stay with that same theme and get a shoe that has the same feel to make everything cohesive. And above all, keep in mind that you’ll be wearing these shoes for a while. Make sure you walk around in the shoe for several hours at home before making a decision. It definitely doesn’t make for a great Kodak moment if you are limping the first dance with your new husband.
